Kwentong dagat is one of the many beach resorts in Zambales that offers relaxing and cool experience in glamping, surfing and even diving.

This place would make anyone’s vacation more unique and interesting by the Vegan food they are serving and yellow cabins for lodging.

Kwentong Dagat is a 7000 square meter beach resort in Sitio Liwliwa, San Felipe. It is known as the first vegan resort in Zambales and a pet-friendly vacation place.

HOW TO GO TO KWENTONG DAGAT?

There are two ways to get to the beach resort:

1. By Private Car – From Manila to San Felipe, Zambales

  • Travel Time: 3 – 4 Hours via SCTEX

2. By Public Transportation – From Manila to San Felipe, Zambales

  • Travel Time: 4 – 5 Hours
  • Direction:
    • Take the Victory Liner Bus at Cubao, Quezon City, then inform the Bus Teller that you will go to Iba, Zambales (fare: PHP 300 per person)
    • Once you are in Zambales, tell the Driver to drop you off at San Felipe and from the said Barangay, take a tricycle (fare: PHP 40 per tricycle) going to Kwentong Dagat.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT KWENTONG DAGAT?

It’s not actually my first time to visit San Felipe, I have been to a lot of beach resorts in Zambales and what can I say about this place is that it offers a new flavor of a vacation experience and something that we could be excited about.

To break the ice, when we are at the entrance of Kwentong Dagat, we really imbibe a rustic forest garden incorporated by agoho trees, shrubs, wildflowers and ground plants.

A delightful smile by the resort’s staffs welcome us and this totally adds up to the beauty and the nature-centered style of the place.

To enjoy the amenities of the resort, one must pay PHP 350 ($7) for a day tour. From my personal experience, I would say that the entrance fee is quite pricey. To me, it could be lowered to PHP 200 ($4) just like the rates of other beach resorts in Liwliwa.

Moving on, when we are done at the reception, we’re fascinated on the yellow cabins and the chalet style house made from combination of bricks and woods with cute balconies and porch swing chair of the resort.

I’ve never got the chance to see what’s inside their stylish cabins as we’ve visited the place for a day tour. But, if you wanted to stay here overnight, you could check out their website here and for the room rates and discount, you may visit this page.

TOP THINGS TO DO AT KWENTONG DAGAT

EAT VEGAN OR COOK YOUR BEST RECIPE

Aside from the lush forest ambiance and colorful cabins and chalet, you could enjoy Kwentong Dagat’s food for an affordable price.

Unknown to many, the resort offers vegan foods which are very healthy for the body and highly recommended for those who are avoiding animal-based foods and saturated fat meals.

With a price of PHP 275 ($5.50), you could satisfy your cravings for Sweet & Sour Vegan Pork and Bicol Express. On top of it, they also serve Salad, fruits and a generous serving of rice.

I’m hungry now…

Anyway, if you’re the type of person who love to bring food on a trip, then this good news is for you. Kwentong Dagat allows travelers to bring their own food or to cook their best recipe at the resort.

If you need to use cook wares, just pay for additional PHP 300 ($6) and the resort will provide your requested cooking tools.

RELAX AT THE VERANDA

After ordering food or cooking, you could relax at the resort’s veranda with the amazing view of the Liwliwa beach and the homie cabins.

This area is designed nicely and it’s huge, it could bring travelers together to talk, have fun, play cards or just enjoy the beach view.

For me, this is the best place to chill in the afternoon or to have a quick nap.

ENJOY THE BEACH

Like any other beaches in the Philippines, Liwliwa has also this powdery white sand and blue water to dive in, swim and uniquely to do surfing.

They say that the best time to be in this place for surfers is between June to August, as the wind is moving fast and the waves on these months are desirable.

For swimmers, you could enjoy the sun-kiss of the beach during March to May, since these periods are the summer season and many locals and foreign travelers are expected to visit this place.

As we went at Kwentong dagat during the siege of Covid19, there’s not much people around the beach and other nearby resorts. It’s calmer and more relaxing. As when the place is not that crowded, you will appreciate more its beauty, the fresh air and nature surrounding it.

It’s such a beautiful experience when we swim and enjoy the warm temperature of the water. I’m expecting it to be salty like any other beaches, but I was wrong, the taste is okay for me. You could bring gaggles or any protective gear but for me, a casual swim wear would do.

By the way, I wouldn’t say that the beach has this consistent blue water feature. Because I’ve noticed that when it is high tide, the water turns dark, let’s say from blue to brown. Well, it’s normal from what the locals has told me. The change could be due to the mountains surrounding the place, the uncertain weather and some other factors.

All is all, the beach is nice and exciting!

CAMPING

Kwentong Dagat does not only encourage travelers to stay on their cabins or rent one of their rooms, but also to experience camping and bonfire.

You may bring your own tent or rent one if you desire at night to watch the stars on a beach and wake up with the breeze of the ocean while the sun is shining on your cheeks.

This seems to be fun idea! When you are with your friends, family or special someone, this activity could bring you closer and might as well create great memories.

There is just one saying from one of my favorite authors, his name is Paulo Coelho and he said, “Travel is never a matter of money but of courage”. I wanted to end this writing with these words as I know that most of us are dreaming of going to any place. I know that we could all do it; we just need to be bold and weigh in what we have, to what we can achieve.

It such a great experience to share this journey with you all.

See you in my next adventure!
