I was so overwhelm seeing my childhood dream turning into reality when I attended the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit.
Remembering, it was 10 years ago when I started to dream that one day I will visit this fascinating display. Back then, I feel like I have a long journey to take. And it’s like a burning desire with zero percent probability to happen.
But fate changed it all. I had this great opportunity which I am thankful for and my quest had begun.
ABOUT THE VAN GOGH EXHIBIT
The first Van Gogh show was launched in 2008 with a title “Imagine Van Gogh: The Immersive Exhibition”. It was created by Annabelle Mauger, an independent French director who loves to read between the lines and the power of images.
The exhibit was seen by 2 million visitors in Paris and from then, it travelled successfully to New York and Toronto.
Known to many, the subject of the exhibit is the famous Dutch Post- Impressionist painter, Vincent Van Gogh. Vincent made his mark in the art industry when he painted in 1889 the Starry Night while he was a patient in a mental asylum.
Starry Night is one of the most recognized pieces of art in the world. With over 100 million copies of it in the form of paintings, mugs, souvenirs and others to name, simply it’s a treasure for keeps that resonates the timeless beauty of the blue sky, stars, the moon and the village.
MY EXPERIENCE
I booked a ticket in Toronto when I knew that the exhibit will run for months. And it cost me around $45 CAD to experience the display and as an optional addition, they have the VIP souvenirs, posters and cushion of Van Gogh for $20 CAD. I have not taken it since I will be travelling far and probably I will buy the painting itself of Starry Night at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, just kidding.
Meanwhile, I would recommend to visit the exhibit on weekdays between 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM because during those hours the place is not that crowded. Well, even though it was during the pandemic when I went here, I noticed a hundred of people after the business hours were present at the art studio.
It was surreal seeing these thousands of artwork of Van Gogh in a more stylish and unique presentation.
When I was on the show, some of my worries were vanquished, I have not think of the real world that I will be facing when the display ends. It is totally a nice escape, it feels like I am traveling back in time.
I must say that we must continue to pursue our childhood dreams because with action and in the right time, it will come.
A line from Mia Hamm that is my favorite when she said “Celebrate what you’ve accomplished but raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed”.
